Press Release - Statement of Vermont Troopers’ Association

Today Superior Court Judge Katherine A. Hayes, of Windham County Superior Court, in the cases of State of Vermont v. Sergeant Ryan Wood and Trooper Zackary Trocki issued an entry order finding the court is unable to find probable cause for the charge of simple assault. The affidavit fails to establish that the shooting of the beanbag caused Mr. Dean's fall and injury.

On behalf of law enforcement officers in Vermont, we write to express our concern and perceived lack of support from our elected leaders resulting from the proposed language contained in draft request 22-0215 draft 3.1 an act relating to creating a private right of action against law enforcement officers for violating rights established under Vermont law.

2022 VTA Fishing Tournament

All, After careful consideration, we have decided to cancel this year's fishing derby to benefit the VTA. Reason being, there has been an extreme lack of fishing in other local tournaments due to the extreme gas prices. Due to the amount of work needed to make this derby successful, our fear is that we will not have a turnout that would be beneficial for the VTA and the amount of work needed. Today, marks 5 years since Cpl Dan Marcellus lost his 10 month battle to brain cancer. Please take a moment during the day, to remember Dan and his family. Especially his wife Jessica and son Sawyer. A 14-year veteran of the Vermont State Police, Dan was hired at age 21 and dedicated his career to working the road as a trooper for the St. Albans and Williston barracks. He also served his country for six years as an infantryman in the Army National Guard. Trooper Chad Walker Memorial Highway and aircraft dedication

One of the many things DPSOA/DPSTF does advocating at the Legislature is to get memorial highway bills passed for those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.
